The 2009 tours will feature displays featured in Mary's books in the northwest and west suburban area. Ride aboard a heated luxury highway coach (or provide your own bus for your group). Enjoy an optional dinner prior to the tour to meet up with old friends or make some new ones. Suggested attire is casual layers, Christmas sweaters encouraged. Autographed copies of the 1st and 2nd editions of The Best Christmas Decorations in Chicagoland will be available for purchase. Thursday, December 17, 2009 Cost: $42 - Sunday; $40 – Thursday
(Dinner at Panera’s is not included.) Pick-up
location: Citibank (25 E. Campbell) parking
lot in Arlington Heights (Riders should arrive no
less than 15 minutes prior to departure. The parking lot is behind the bank. Entrance is on Evergreen.) Over the Fox River and
through the woods, this enchanting tour will pass through several riverfront
towns as well as Wauconda, North Barrington, Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates.
Riders will see a giant snow family, a tree glowing with homemade decorations,
an entire street aglow and a holiday carousel, among other delights. Those who wish to meet, greet
and eat prior to departure can gather by 4:00PM for an optional meal at Panera Bread (31 S. Evergreen [in Evergreen Plaza], Arlington
Heights), known for its delicious sandwiches and soups, located directly across
the street from Citibank. Dinner is not included in the tour price, however, if you present your tour confirmation form, you will receive a 10% discount. Please order your dinner as soon as
you arrive. Tables will be reserved for our group. Parking: Available
free in the Citibank lot (on Sunday anytime and after 5PM on Thursday) or in the underground lot on Evergreen (entrance is at front of Evergreen Plaza between Starbucks and Amlings.) Public transportation:
Metra to Arlington Heights train station. Then walk SE on Northwest Hwy. about 1 bl, S on Evergreen 1 bl. to parking lot (or continue across street into Evergreen Plaza to go to Panera). If requested prior to the tour date, the
charter bus will also drop off passengers at the Rosemont Blue Line Station after
the tour only. The Donner and Blitzen
Tour Thursday, December 10 6:30PM–9:30PM (Pick-up at DiMaggio’s
will be 5 minutes later. Note: Departure is prompt; return time is approximate.) Cost: $35 (without dinner); $55 (with dinner) Pick-up locations: Harlem
and Higgins CTA Park n’ Ride (Riders should arrive no less than 15 minutes
prior to departure.); DiMaggio Café (for diners only) As though Santa’s reindeers
were leading the way, this delightful tour will pass through Rosemont, DesPlaines,
Niles, Park Ridge, Lincolnwood and Norwood Park. Among other fanciful displays,
riders will see a neighborhood aglow with candy canes, a giant reindeer, a
Tower of Pisa replica, and a Christmas tree that pops through a rooftop. Those who wish to start the
evening with a delicious lasagna dinner can join us at 5:00PM at DiMaggio Café (7326 W. Lawrence, Harwood Heights) for an additional
charge of $20 per person. (Includes salad,
lasagna, bread, coffee, Italian cookies, tax and gratuities.) Payment must
be received with tour reservation. Space is limited. Parking: available at
CTA Park n’ Ride ($4 fee) or free across Higgins on side streets after 4PM; available free in DiMaggio parking lot (for diners
only) Public transportation to
CTA Park n’ Ride from city: CTA Blue Line to Harlem (To continue to DiMaggio
